Terms of Use

Last updated: April 18, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Thingalog. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

What Thingalog is

Thingalog is a hosted catalog platform. You describe a collection, we give you a structured, searchable, shareable catalog with photos, templates, and optional public URLs. The service is offered free today and will offer paid tiers in the future.

Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your password and any API keys secret, and for all activity under your account. Let us know immediately at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you can only use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload to Thingalog — your templates, items, values, photos, and descriptions. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, and process that content solely to operate the service for you (including delivering it to anyone you've shared it with and, where you've made it public, to the general public).

You represent that you have the right to upload everything you upload — including that you own the copyright or have permission, and that your content doesn't violate anyone else's rights.

Public catalogs — read this carefully

Public catalogs are public. Forever, for all practical purposes.

When you mark a catalog public, you are publishing its contents to the open internet. That means:

By marking a catalog public, you grant a perpetual, royalty-free license to the general public to view the content in place on Thingalog, and you acknowledge that you cannot revoke copies made elsewhere. If you need control over who sees your content, keep your catalog private.

AI processing

Thingalog integrates with Anthropic's Claude API to power its template builder, sample data generator, and other AI-assisted features. When you use these features, relevant parts of your input (descriptions, templates, item content) are sent to Anthropic for processing and then returned to you. If you don't want your content to touch a third-party AI service, don't use the AI features.

Acceptable use

You may not use Thingalog to:

Content moderation and illegal imagery

Uploaded photos are scanned or will be scanned against known-illegal-imagery hash databases before storage. When a match is detected we will, as applicable:

Every public catalog item has a report button. We investigate reports and act on clear violations. Repeated or severe violations result in account termination and, where illegal, referral to the appropriate authorities.

API keys and MCP access

If you create API keys (for programmatic or MCP access), you are responsible for keeping them secret and for everything done using them. Treat them like passwords. You can revoke and rotate keys at any time from your catalog settings; do so immediately if a key may have leaked. We are not liable for damage caused by a compromised key you failed to rotate.

Fees, free tier, and changes

Parts of the service are offered free of charge today. We may introduce paid tiers, usage limits, or feature gates in the future. Where we do, we'll give you reasonable advance notice and, for features you were already using, time to adapt or export your content.

Service availability

We work to keep Thingalog running and your data safe, but we don't guarantee uptime or that the service will be bug-free. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" — the same way every independently-operated web service is. We strongly recommend using the Export feature to maintain your own backups.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected] from the address on file. Upon termination, we remove your account and catalog data within 30 days, except records we are required to retain for legal or moderation reasons.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if continued service creates legal risk for us, or if the service is being discontinued. We'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data except in cases involving illegal content, active abuse, or legal compulsion.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Thingalog and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to the service, including lost data, lost revenue, or loss of goodwill. Our total liability in any matter arising out of these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) CAD $100.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of content you upload, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms or of someone else's rights.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced on the landing page and, where appropriate, by email to account holders. The "Last updated" date tells you when the current version took effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Alberta unless applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
